Demotivational Comment or Risk Management?

Yesterday in a war room meeting one of my team members said to an other member even with him task force the project could fail.

This comment started an eruption of anger in the head of the task force and he started yelling with the other guy. I interrupted him asking:

"During the cold war in a NASA meeting an engineer from propulsion system could be interrupted during this briefing with: 'Hey, nice system, but from the historical series maybe we have another crash'...".

This was the risk guy speaking, the propulsion engineer could not start yelling with him arguing that is the best system ever made by man bla bla bla, the only way out for the engineer is try to refute politely the arguments of risk guy!

We have to keep our mind clear to really find out if someone is just trying to contingency some risks or trying to demotivate us.
